This one started with an introduction to Saul Koll by his longtime filmmaker/designer/rocker buddy Gary Hustwit. Saul’s beautiful Koll Guitar Co. brand needed a little upgrade in the logo department and it was a simple request: The logo needs to be easier to inlay on the headstock. Just that simple. Worked up a script mark for it, appropriate to the 30+ years of Koll Guitar Co. excellence that Saul had under his belt crafting these incredible axes. Stunning machines! Every move on a Koll guitar sings!

Koll was going to be making pedals, too?! Of course they were. Every detail was considered, much like Saul’s guitar builds. Right down to the finish on the pedal and the silver speckle of the plastic on the tuners. Our first guitar pedal design! These things RIP! Turn it up!

From the Koll Guitar Co. site, “We recently finished a custom Junior Glide build for designer Aaron Draplin, the graphic design mastermind behind the Koll logo and the High-Rise pedal (and lots of other amazing work). Aaron’s only request was that it be “simple and as orange as possible.” Mission accomplished! Although I guess we could’ve made an orange pickguard… and an orange pickup cover… and dyed the fretboard orange… uhm…okay, back to the drawing board!”
