Jerry Garcia
Back in 2017, I was approached by Kevin Monty of Red Light Management about doing a poster for a special one-off Jerry Garcia tribute concert at Red Rocks. I instantly said, “Yes!”
I’m a Dead fan, but don’t go all that deep. I like the studio records, which is enough for me. I’d do the extended “Eyes of the World” off Without A Net once a week.
Saw them twice in 1991 in Detroit. Got lucky each night and found a ticket in. My buddies were down there to do drugs, drugs and drugs and puff on nitrous balloons. I was just curious to see it all up close. Had my first falafel, got roasted and bought a tie-dye t-shirt off some scrubs from New Jersey.
I was a little lost in the shows. I just didn’t know all the jams, the improvising and drums in space” and all that. But I did get to see them two nights and am forever thankful.
I’m an American Beauty and Workingman’s Dead kind of fan. Those records came out back to back in 1970. Helluva a year for The Dead.
