2003–2010

These guys had guts. They went for it, things went big, then bigger and then exploded, imploded and went away. On the way up? So fun to be a part of it. Matt Kass’ vision is something that needed to be commended. His youthful, playful sense of curiosity led Grenade into many, many successful lines of gloves, clothing, movies and accessories.

It was tough to watch Grenade go away. All the friendships fractured, and that creepy Joseph guy thrashing around like some silverback gorilla? Terrifying. I sat across from that creep and couldn’t believe the lyrics coming out of him. Disgusting.

To all Grenerds reading this, you have much to be proud of. You guys made so much cool stuff, inspired so many kids the world over and did it with a punk spirit. I was proud to help out where I could.

I miss my buddy Matt Kass, and his wild, fun, frenzied days running Grenade. Such an improbable ascent and tricky descent as a scrubby little snowboarding company, but with so many fun times and now legendary achievements.
