This one falls into the “Aw, fuck it” category of just how one accepts a gig. When Jim and Sean from the FCTC approached me, it was with the humble, “We don’t know if we can afford you…” thing. But that’s not where my head was at on this one. I just liked the guys from the first time we spoke. And I’ve always had a thing for St. Louis. And we aligned on many, many shitty bands. That stuff matters. Budget aside, I blindly accepted; I knew I wanted to help these turkeys in any way I could. And sometimes, these jobs are like that. Who cares about the money? I just wanted to help them make something cool. And that’s never about the paycheck. And for the record, they paid me. And I love them for it.
