Live Conference

Forever ago in my first couple years of college at NMC in Traverse City, I flipped through my first HOW Magazine. It was this glimpse into the larger world of design, which was so exciting from our limited small town vantage. Years later when the “DDC speaking fiasco” thing took off, I found myself at my first HOW Conference in Boston. 2012. And it was BONKERS! Big crowds and big fun the whole time. Got to know Amy Conover over the years and she’d hire me to do torso covers for the next couple conferences!

Fun Fact: The Teamster dicks who purposely made me wait to use one of their roller dollies—while they smoked cigs on some bloated break—may or may not be missing precisely one dolly. We may or may not have venomously pilfered that roller with PURE HATE in our heart, and checked it on the flight all the way back to Portland. Still use the thing ALL THE TIME. Thanks, fellas!
