Forum Snowboards
When I started at Snowboarder Magazine, Forum snowboards ruled the scene. They had the hottest team, the hottest tricks and one hell of a jaw on J.P. Walker. And us Snowboarder schlubs would lurk at the Vegas tradeshow and the Forum top brass carried themselves in a certain way. When they’d walk up on something, THEY WOULD WALK UP. There was just this air to them. Sweaters on skin. Tinted glasses. Expensive sneakers. And that Niko guy? Whoa. A fuckin’ enigma, and one hard nut to crack, and yet cool as hell once you got past his intense, million-miles-a-minute persona, opinions and ruminations. Respect to Niko.
In such a spirited “snow bro” culture, all bullshit aside, Four Star Distribition did elevate their brands to interesting levels. Forum, Foursquare and Special Blend were killer brands, strong enough to set themselves apart from each other. All tight and right in their own perfect way.
Some years later, there was a shift change with a Burton acquisition and a bunch of my buddies were suddenly running the show. I got the call to contribute and had a blast working with Jared and Evan to make the riff-raff you’ll see below.
