Red Fang
We love Red Fang. Been buddies with the band since it started back in 2005. My buddy Chris Coyle connected me to them, and then I met guitarist and coder David Sullivan through Wilderness partner David Nakamoto.
It’s one thing when yer buddies start a band and you go see the shows to hang out, support them and dig the tunes. It’s ANOTHER THING when you hear the shit for the first time and go, HOLY FRICK, I’D BUY THIS STUFF AT THE RECORD STORE!
And my favorite part about Red Fang? Never ever taking themselves too seriously. I remember them signing to Relapse, and taking a whirl through their labelmate’s photo. Each predictable band promo photo was a race to see who could look the meanest, most ominous and heaviest of metal and all that. And then you get to the Red Fang “marketing materials” and there’s John in his “Who Farted?” t-shirt. Fuckin’ perfect.
And that’s the way it’s always been with these wild animals. I’m a fan. The records, the art, the videos and seeing them around town over the years. Always awesome!
Long live Red Fang!

Fuck, do I love me some Red Fang. Heavy jams from some of the lightest bros in heavy metal. It’s an art form to not take yerself too seriously. Clears the path the KICK ASS and MAKE AWESOME SHIT…free of all the posturing and big leaguing. Good form, fellas!
