Chuck Prophet

Chuck Prophet reached out to me in 2009 to design his newest record. Called me out of the blue. The initial conversation was so fascinating. Chuck’s seen it all, and been through so much. You have to understand, that first call…he’s feeling me out, and I’m doing the same back to him. And his swagger won me over. Can’t quite put my finger on it. I accepted, went and listened to all his previous records and dug in.

We hung out one day in San Francisco, hitting a couple record stores and getting some chow. And it was awesome. Chuck’s got a million rock & roll stories, and I was all ears. Here’s what I’m getting at here: Sometimes, with rockers? They have the personality of sheet of blank paper. Not Chuck Prophet. I learned so much from the guy, and loved that about our interactions making his record, or hanging out in his big city by the bay. Thanks, Chuck.

(And sorry about my “I’m gonna retire” shit I was saying in my talk in San Francisco that one time. You set me straight, Chuck! I’m still at it and thriving!)
