Ernie Ball

My first real guitar purchase was in the fall of 1991. I saved my money and got myself a red Fender Squier Precision Bass and Peavey Amp. Drove down to Detroit to meet up with my Uncle Kevin to go hit guitar stores to land on the gear to procure. And as we were checking out, I remember grabbing another set of Ernie Ball bass strings to complete the kit.

Ernie Ball “The Art of Sound” Video Series with Aaron Draplin

Once the posters were wrapped up and off to the printer, the Ernie Ball crew came to the shop in Portland and made a little video of me. Got to talk up my experience with Ernie Ball as a kid, and play a little guitar.

I remember being REALLY nervous playing guitar on camera. It was my first time, and if you screw up, it’s cemented forever in the footage. And Uncle Kevin heard one off note and reminded me, “You missed a note there.” Of course I did. Eat it up, horse lips!
