We were pretty quick to “mask up” here in Portland. My little sister Leah jumped the gun and made a batch that I’m still using today (some eight months later) as these words go print. IN no time, I had kids writing in asking me when I was going to be making a DDC version. Instead of hogging up that bandwidth, I just got out of the way. And, went digging. To see how people were handling it. And to chart all the different types exploding out into the market. It was heartening to see people mobilizing to beat the virus back. In no time, I was getting hit up by promo sources who were pivoting to make masks. Full-color jobbers, all sorts of features, full-print digital print neck thingies and the like. I was overwhelmed. And then I saw some artisanal mask being sold for $140 out of Brooklyn or something. Selvedge denim and all that. I mean, sure, but come on. Fashion. Limited edition. Small batch. All that shit. Freaked me out.

I just wanted to make something that worked, was affordable and was easy to get. And that’s what we did here. I wear the hell out of the things when I’m out and about; which is scant at best. Masks up, motherfuckers!
