CHRISTMAS SPLURGE: So I've been on a hunt for my "favorite records of all time."This week a bunch of shit showed up. Namely, a pile of records and ephemera from Bruce Licher of the Independent Project Press. I've been a fan since 1995 when Steve Brydges turned me on to Scenic's amazing packaging and sounds. Great, great stuff. I've got it all on disc, but now, I'll be enjoying it all on my record player. Done. Some of the most beautiful, down to earth packaging I've ever come across. Highly, highly recommended.Here's the Independent Project Press eBay store, and an old archive of a bunch of IPP/IPR stuff.Gigantically recommend by the DDC.One time, back in 2001 on the way back from a Vegas weekend, we turned off the main highway and got real lost in the desert listening to Incident At Cima. Absolute middle of nowhere, with the music playing, and the packaging all spread out over the dashboard. A little adventure.- - - -A conversation with Bruce Licher.- - - -A look inside the IPP.- - - -Stumbled on to Bo Lundberg over at Grain Edit. They've got a nice write-up worth reading. Some real nice stuff by this guy. Bravo.
