Mission: Moving Leigh Out West, Day 06

Goddammit. I should've known better. I mean, c'mon, I've ran that route how many times, now?Well, here's the deal: January just ain't the time for a road trip. And that's that.I've rolled the dice on the western winter journey one a number of times, and always been kinda lucky. Not this one. Not at all. The most treacherous mission to date. Still rattled. And Leigh is too. Poor gal. I was so excited to show her how big and beautiful our country is, and, well, we were white-knuckled way too much out there, and that's ain't fun. It was bad enough that it had to be "me" next to her all the way out, and, in rough winter weather. Tough dame.Suddenly, this big country goes from "great, big, wild place" to "dirty adversary." So, we're proud to announce, in the battle of "Aaron, Leigh and Gary vs. The Wild West", well, we won.We pulled into Portland this afternoon, battle-worn and weary. Road hard and wet, and cold and......thankful as fuck to be home and safe and at rest.Goodnight from Portland, my humble, wet, easy-to-deal-with home in the wild west.- - - -MISSION HIGHLIGHTS:01. Hitting record stores in Grand Rapids, Iowa City, Des Moines, Denver and Boise and picking up a mountain of good shit that I couldn't live with out.02.
