TWO GIGS TODAY, OMAHA!!!: First time I came to Omaha was in 1990, or, at least the first time I remember. We were on a family roadtrip out to San Francisco, and each town we’d stay in was a chance for me to find a new place to skate. In Omaha, we found “Eat Concrete” skatepark and I got to rip around the place for a couple hours while the family patiently waited. This was 1990. And then when heading out West, and then back from The West, Omaha was always a wild place I’d whip through, often in the middle of the night. Those big trainyards breathing in the night! After a long day of Nebraska, seeing the city in the distance always was a treat. Well, today, we tell our story to Omaha, in two settings! First, to the good people of the AAF Omaha, and later tonight, to rowdies of AIGA Nebraska! My Omaha-by-way-of-Portland buddy David Burn told me one time, “Dude, you need to do Omaha!” And buddy, today’s that day. - - - - LUNCH: DDC vs. AAF Omaha! SUPPER: DDC vs. AIGA Nebraska! - - - - WE COME IN PEACE, AND WE BRING A MOUNTAIN OF MERCH: Nebraska, you know we love you. All these years…all the nights in Kearney, Grand Island, Oglalla, Lincoln and Omaha…and we finally made a poster dedicated to Nebraska! That’s what you are seeing above. Get a load of that beast! Four colors on uncoated French “Electric Red” Construction paper! Metallic silver in the mix, too! Printed by our buddies down in South Carolina, the ever awesome The Half and Half! Thanks, Sara! - - - - COME TO THE SHOW: See you there, Omaha! Hell yeah! - - - - THE SHOW MUST GO ON: April 10 - New School of Architecture, San Diego, Calif. - - - - FOR BOSTON: My heart goes out to Boston. To the victims, those who took care of them and the city. Senseless violence. So sad. There Are 3 Comments
Hey Aaron, trying to make plans to come out to the talk in Rochester NY, but there’s nothing on the Vignellis or RIT websites and I’ve contacted some people I know in the RIT design department and no one seems to know anything about it. Is this happening and if so, at what time? Posted by: Brian Quoss on 04/16/13 at 10:41 AM
We had such a great time. Come back to Omaha soon! Posted by: Ryan on 04/17/13 at 4:58 AM
Aaron - Thank you for taking the time to visit us in Nebraska. Your talk last night was inspiring, energizing and, most of all, fun. It’s good to have a kick-in-the-head reminder of all the reasons why I got into this business. As a fellow child of the 70’s and chronic fan of nostalgia, I salute you.
