GREEN WITH A HIT OF WHITE: My stash of Field Notes “Balsam Fir” editions showed up this morning, and I’m here to tell you: These are something special. I’m so proud of what we made, I just can’t even take it. The white foil and subtle debossing is the best we’ve done to date. Just incredible on that “Olive” Speckletone. Can’t take my eyes and fingers of that cover. Lots of rubbing going on. The envelope and letterpress card are just as great. I filled out a pile this afternoon to send to loved ones, enjoying the festive red type and toothy textures. I’m filled with holiday spirit, suddenly. Goddamn. From the tip of my toes to the tonsure plate tectonics up on top. (Look up “tonsure” and be glad you have hair, you hirsute bastards!) Anyway, I’m just really proud of these, and wanted to thank Field Notes Midwest for making our little ideas come to life so incredibly well. I’d direct you to where to pick up some, but I think we already sold of ‘em!!! Subscriptions only, at this point. Very happy. Filling up pages and page of the things. - - - - FROM ACROSS THE POND: Got a nice care package from the blokes at Bless Design. Wait, is “bloke” a derogatory term? Hope not. Sounds cool. Anyhoo. They were nice enough to send us a “Wooly Bobble Hat” and a “Seasonal Target Tea Towel” with a big ol’ turkey on it. JP’s been making tea around the shop, so we’re gonna put this to use. And the hat, it’s been busted out a couple times here and there to to brave the rain on the way over to the market. To be blunt, you need one of these. Cool stuff, from the United Kingdom! Get it going while supplies last, people! - - - - COOL LITTLE SET OF ICONS HERE: The Siruca icon set by Iconwerk. - - - - ROCK IMAGES FROM PORTLAND: Local wild men Danava, getting it out there, courtesy of local quiet man Neil Dacosta. We’re feeling that shit. And, always get a kick out seeing Eric the Man Mountain out and about. Hell yes. Men of size, unite! - - - - OF INTEREST: Minimalize! In the spirit of minimalism, we’ve got nothing to add to this one. (Via the OMFGCO twitter feed.) - - - - ON THE PLAYER: 01. High On Fire - Snakes Of The Divine There Are 8 Comments

Hey Draplin - I was wondering if you got burnt out. And now I gather from Andy’s comment that you have been under the knife. Or maybe you are just putting your blogging energy into guitar these days. Any rate - stay well and strong. Posted by: Scott on 01/11/11 at 9:24 AM
Field notes are looking good, very rub-worthy. Look forward to meeting Aaron at the AIGA Membership event in AK later this month. Posted by: Alexis R on 01/11/11 at 5:31 PM
Hey Aaron, I noticed things have been quiet ‘round these parts. Sorry to see you’ve had a rough go lately. I had my appendix out when I was in 7th grade. Doesn’t help much, I know, but I can empathize with you a bit. If you haven’t figured it out yet, when you’re on the mend—don’t hang out with anyone funny. Posted by: Ben on 01/13/11 at 12:56 PM
