SO PROUD I JUST CAN’T TAKE IT: The DDC made it into the pages of American Trademarks! New York City’s Eric Baker invited me to write a little essay and show some of my logos a little over a year ago. He was reprinting his infamous “Trademarks” booksthat had been long out of printinto one big project. His partner on the project was Tyler Blik, and that name rang a bell instantly for me. Here’s a book that’s never more than an arm’s length away from me here in the cockpit: “Trademarks of the ’60s &’70s.” So proud to be in there, amongst logo heavies like Paula Scher, Charles Spencer Anderson, Woody Pirtle and Sharon Werner. I’m bringing up the low end the best I can! You need one of these. Gigantically recommended for all logo designers, and hell, all Americans. A must for any library. Lots of incredible history in there. Get one. - - - - SOME GOOD LEATHER IN THIS ONE: Portland’s very own Tanner Goods leather products. - - - - GOOD COMPANY TO BE IN: Our “Cuspid Cleaner” makes it to the pages of Supply! So awesome. So much cool shit on there. Not bad for a little $3.99 toothbrush, with freaky black bristles. Get orange with the DDC! (Thank you, Mr. Premuda!) - - - - BEST THING I’VE SEEN ALL MONTH, HANDS AND NEEDLES DOWN: Just like it says, people: “Man Makes Chocolate Records.” Then he plays ‘em, and eats ‘em. What a goddamned world. Crazy-ass Bavarians, we salute you! Ring wear. OOP. VG++. Bittersweet marbled with Dark. - - - - KING OF THE BREEDS: The never-ending dachshund. Gary, I miss you being in the shop each day. Use your legs, buddy! (Thank Bill!) - - - - SOME GREAT WORDS: Chuck Prophet writes about Mr. Chilton. Hell of a read. - - - - ON THE PLAYER: 01. That’s pretty damn cool, Aaron! Way to go! Michael Doret wrote this book up in his blog this week, too. I do believe I need this. Posted by: Al aka El Negro Magnifico on 03/26/10 at 12:30 AM
