The big, beautiful numbers you see above are from an old package of nuts and bolts rescued from a garage on the outs, but a 100 yards from the Columbia River, separating Oregon from Washington to the north. This is the kind of stuff that stops me in my tracks. - - - - SOMETHING PICKED UP AT THE EXPO FOR 30 BUCKS: “An old Lyons shop stool, worn-in, just right.” One of those things you walk up to and sign, “Hell, now or never.” Go price out a new one, and tell me if I’m a dick. “American Made” doesn’t come cheap, and not like it should. - - - - I WANT MY TWO AND HALF HOURS BACK: Leigh and I went and saw Synecdoche, New York last night. That goddamned Charlie Kaufman. That’s the last one. I’m done. It was so good up until…aw, forget it… - - - - THERE’S A GOOD ONE GOING ON OVER AT CHUNKLET.COM: Henry writes up Wisconsin’s finest, Killdozer. - - - - THE KIND OF STUFF WE LOOK AT, AND DROOL OVER: Adrian Steel’s cargo van shelf units. We’ve got ideas about all kinds of things. Having a van outfitted with a bed, shelving and a desk of sort to work out of is one of those ideas. The kind of thing I think about while dozing off, being pissed I have to sleep. Damn. Something we say, “We’ll sleep when we’re dead.” - - - - SOME BEAUTIFUL WORK HERE: Ben Barry’s Austin City Homes project. Incredible. Plus, he worked on the latest effort by the Hold Steady, Stay Positive. (Sent in by Scott Leverenz. Thank you, brother.) MY FAVORITE PART OF MY OLD COMIC BOOKS: Oh man. Now we’re talking. This link is “required viewing, ” people. Do it. Now. Here goes: Comixstuff.com. The brainchild of Scott Leverenz, and here’s what the main pages says, “An Archive of old comic book ads from the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.” Heck yes. Start with “Cowboys and their BB’s.” Yer gonna shoot yer eye out, kid. Great, great stuff. Not to be missed. Then find some honest employment in the “Get A Job” section. I remember looking as this ad, as if it were yesterday. So good. There Are 3 Comments

Synedoche is *really* not worth it? The trailer had me spellbound. Posted by: Daniel Holter on 03/10/09 at 11:17 AM
Any of you guys ever order the 100 Cowboys/Soldiers/Whatever? My brother and I used to sit and drool over those but never coughed the $1.25 to get ‘em. Always wondered if they were as cool as they looked. “Packed in this foot locker.” Fuck yeah. And a Killdozer link to boot, thanks for it. Posted by: sb on 03/10/09 at 11:59 AM
