Had Leigh and Ewan out tonight for some of mom and dad’s grillin’ action, including, burgers, brats, hot dogs and corn on the cob. One of dad’s beaming moments regarding his persuasive grilling techniques bring a story regarding Johnny White, and this one time on the back deck. This is maybe four years ago or something, and I’m back for a couple weeks in the summer. I had some friends over for supper off the grill. So a bunch of people show up, we eat, we chat…you know, good times. So I go out back to the deck and sit next to my pal Johnny White, and he’d chowing down on a couple bratwursts. This floored me, as, Johnny White was a renowned example of healthy vegetarian living. And here he was, chowing down on a couple brats. I freaked out and looked over to dad, who was manning the grill. “Dad, he can’t eat those!” I pleaded. “But they are good, sure he can!” was his reply. Johnny just sat there with a big ass smile on his face, putting it away. My dad can be a little pushy when it comes to feed time, and, well, I guess right then and there his persuasive ways converted Johnny White back to the carnivore way of life. My dad, my dad. A handful in any situation. - - - - Today was a good day. Glad to be back. 032. “Hot corn.” - - - - This is basically my favorite program while home, on the couch, doing absolutely nothing: How It’s Made. I can watch this show over and over and over, and plan on it. Up next on How It’s Made: Neon signs and Book Binding. Yes! My kinda half hour. Comments
