Tonight is Mudhoney night. Over at Sabala’s.

Went with Matt Kass to rock out to those old songs.

I don’t know why I am so fascinated with age, but, as those old shits were marching to fuzz up there, I was busy doing math in my head, something along the lines of, “Man, when(if) I am 44-years-old, I hope I’m cool like Mark Arm and Steve Turner.”

So good. So old. I mean, shit, the last time I saw those guys was in the summer of 1995 and hell, even that felt a little weird and “past their time” or something.

They opened with “Suck You Dry,” and friends, that made it worth it.

Got to see Faz, Danger Ehren, Man Mountain Eric, Jesus Lizard Tribute Band Brandon and a very-hammered/happy Ray Gordon. All awesome.

Press photos from way back when.

Pretty cold in Portland. Kurt’s not down with it. Thinks I oversold him on Portlands, “Mellow Winters.”

Real glad it’s Friday. We’re taking the weekend off.

Our annual Microsoft slam.

Here goes: Turds.

The end is near. Or something.

Funny how things come around. I was thinking of my “audio” days in Seattle this weekend, went to see Wolfmother on Saturday (check them out). Our senior project at The Art Institute of Seattle was to put together a demo and show for a local band. Just happend to be Mudhoney for us, it was the first time one of the AIS shows sold out. Good times. And Damn I’m getting old.

Oh nice memory. First year of college, ‘89, and Mudhoney was my first show in my new city. Can’t say my new digs exactly ‘cause I slept in a Motel 6 near the campus for 2 weeks until I found / rented an apartment.

Anyhow, day started off badly…walking to campus a bee got caught in my hair and stung my head multiple times. Missed my first class of the morning because I was in the Med center (after ringing the emergency bell ‘cause it wasn’t open when I arrived in my great discomfort).

But then I found the show listing in the paper and walked some strange, dark, two mile route to the club because I was without a car or bike or friend in my new city.

But man, great show! Made a new friend even. Then got a bike…checked out of the Motel, found an apartment downtown, so on.

Thanks for the reminder!
