Caught a little film festival last night with Lovejoy at the Hollywood Theater. It was a Jeff Krulik mini-marathon with a couple of his masterpieces, and, a couple of new ones. This is the guy behind the lens of, “Heavy Metal Parking Lot”, “Mr. Blassie Goes To Washington” and one of my all-time favorites, “Ernest Borgnine On The Bus”; as well as a ton of other amazing beasts. Krulik was in attendance, and spoke briefly about his movies, some of the characters and the phenomena these viral classics. It was pretty cool. Pencil neck geeks, spend some time at his site. - - - - Watch Jay Farrar record his new Son Volt album, somewhere in St. Louis. Harry over in Sweden sent me this one, and man, it’s worth the download: Son Volt at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. Thanks man. Good shit. - - - - Got a ton done this weekend. So it goes. Big plans. There Are 3 Comments

That Blassie is the goddamned King of Men. Inspired by the Krulik films, I used an image of him choking the shit out of some poor sap on the back of my 2001 holiday card (top row, left of center). I used to have a copy of those Krulik films on VHS but it got lent out to a friend who “lost” it, you know how it goes. Also, I know Patrick, the drummer for the Greenhornes, real nice guy. He’s a graphic designer too and into scooters. Finally, awesome graphic on the Detroit entry, good to revisit those old photos. Wow. Posted by: PJ Chmiel on 04/24/06 at 2:00 PM
