First moment recommendations: New toilet seats (not the cushy gross kind or the solid oak woody kind), crack a bottle of decent bubbly with some friends, don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t paint the precious woodwork, lose the carpet, paint your bedroom first, buy a new mattress.
